La 992.1 Turbo S a reçu un moteur entièrement nouveau, dérivé du 3,0 litres de la Carrera mais avec un alésage porté de 91 à 102 mm. Cela porte la cylindrée à 3,7 litres et la puissance à 650 ps à 6 750 tr/min, avec 800 Nm disponibles dès 2 500 tr/min. La PDK à huit rapports transmet le tout aux quatre roues. Nouveauté: les deux turbocompresseurs VTG à géométrie variable, montés en miroir et tournant en sens inverse, chacun alimentant sa propre rangée de cylindres. Le système d'admission d'air a été entièrement redessiné avec deux fois plus d'entrées. Pour la première fois sur une Turbo, la voiture a également reçu des jantes de tailles différentes à l'avant et à l'arrière: 20 pouces devant, 21 pouces derrière.
